ਸੰਨ 1577 ਵਿੱਚ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਸਰੋਵਰ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਆਰੰਭ ਹੋਈ ਸੀ | ਪੰਚਮ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਸ਼੍ਰੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਅਰਜਨ ਦੇਵ ਜੀ ਇਸ ਬੇਰੀ ਹੇਠ ਬਿਰਾਜਦੇ ਸਨ | ਇਸ ਥਾਂ ਤੇ ਭਾਈ ਸਾਲ੍ਹੋ ਜੀ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਸਰੋਵਰ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰਵਾਇਆ ਕਰਦੇ ਸਨ | ਸੰਨ 1740 ਮੱਸੇ ਰੰਘੜ ਦਾ ਸਿਰ ਕੱਟਣ ਆਏ ਬੀਰ ਬਹਾਦਰ ਭਾਈ ਮਹਿਤਾਬ ਸਿੰਘ ਮੀਰਾਂ ਕੋਟ ਅਤੇ ਭਾਈ ਸੁੱਖਾ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਘੋੜੇ ਇਸ ਬੇਰੀ ਨਾਲ ਬੰਨੇ ਸਨ | ਇਹ ਬੇਰੀ ਉਦੋਂ ਦੀ ਹੈ | ਨਿੱਕੇ ਨਿੱਕੇ ਲਾਚੀਆਂ ਵਰਗੇ ਬੇਰ ਲੱਗਣ ਕਾਰਨ ਇਸ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਲਾਚੀ ਬੇਰ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਪੈ ਗਿਆ

GURUDWARA SHRI LACHI BER SAHIB is situated in the Amritsar City. Its Situated in the Parikarma campus of SHRI HARIMANDIR SAHIB. SHRI GURU ARJAN DEV JI, The 5th Sikh Guru Used to sit here under this tree and supervise the excavation of the nector tank. In Samvat 1643(1577)The Brave Warriors Bhai Sukha Singh and Bhai Mehtab Singh tied their steeds with this very tree in 1740 while gone to behead Massa Rangad, A fanatic Mughal, for desecrating the sanctum by converting it in dancing hall. For Bearing Small Berries(Fruits) of cardamom size, This tree is known as Lachi Ber.
